The overall purpose of this job is to provide supervision and care to the residents, promote the well-being of those residents; provide related support to their families and legal guardians; coordinate with Agency staff and individuals from other agencies/community programs involved in providing care to the residents; support, maintain, and meet the Agency mission and vision; and assist the Agency with adhering to best practices, state and federal laws, Agency policies and procedures, and accreditation standards.
Provides a positive role model for residents in care through respect actions, behavior, language, dress, and demeanor.
Assumes primary responsibility to ensure a stable, nurturing, safe environment in the home for residents continued development and safety.
Monitors and evaluates the progress of residents with regards to their Plans of Care and other program outcomes and measures.
Monitors and evaluates the progress of the residents’ family members, as appropriate and applicable, according to the residents’ Plans of Care.
Meets with the Residential Program Manager daily/weekly to review resident notes, residents’ progress, receive direct supervision, and provide feedback and recommendations regarding advocacy and care of residents, program implementation, resident and/or home needs, and safety risk management issues.
Provides supervision and counseling of residents regarding admission, program/home/school expectations, separation anxiety, communication access, visitation guidelines, residents’ rights, safety procedures, participation in chores, and care of assigned room.
Provides supervision and counseling of residents with regards to appropriate social behaviors and skills, sexual conduct, health and hygiene, respect and rights of individuals, and respect of their home and property (both individual and community), residents’ goal development and completion all in accordance with program model and the residents’ Plans of Care.
Provide constant supervision of each resident in care unless otherwise specified in the residents’ Plans of Care.
This is a live in position - you will work 7 days and then off for 7 days. We offer a great benefits package – the Agency pays 100% of your health, dental, and vision insurance after 90 days for full time staff.
Required: Must have high school diploma or GED
A valid North Carolina Driver License
Proof of vehicle insurance
Experience in residential/group home setting
2 or 4 year degree in human services or related field
Parenting experience or training regarding parenting concepts
Ability to utilize computer program related to documentation
Ability to teach and counsel residents with regards to daily living, planning, and life skills/tasks
Ability to assist residents in a crisis
Ability to problem solve, multi-task, plan, manage time and/or schedules, and be flexible
Ability to develop menus and cook balanced meals
Ability to adhere to a budget, balance daily and weekly money/receipts
Ability to maintain clean, healthy living environment
Ability to utilize good communication skills, especially active listening; complete and write clear, concise documentation; present information in small and large group settings
Ability to work as part of a team; accept and give constructive feedback
Ability to develop and maintain professional work boundaries with residents and co-workers
Ability to understand risk and safety management
